I met the Mayor!

So I go to the ribbon cutting for Union Station, the new home of the Pin Show. Union Station was built in the 60's and has continued to be used for the train station. After a 2.3 million dollar renovation it is now a premier spot for events. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and the food catered by Wolfgang Puck was awesome. I met a lovely woman who is on the board of Parks and Rec who introduced me to the mayor of Dallas. Yes, I shook hands with the man. It was all very hob knobby and an all around pretty cool.
The next Pin Show is February 26 and it is going to be off the hook. Fashion show at Union Station, catering by Wolfgang Puck, after party coordinated by me. AAArgh, I have so much to do!

MOnday!

Is it Monday already? What an awesome weekend but it went by way too fast. Had the old man in town (seriously it was a treat) and he actually got to see me work it at The Invasion Car show on Saturday. To The Them car club (about the nicest peeps ever), may I say Kudos. The show was awesome and people really came out and showed support. There was a good 69 cars there from Austin, Dallas, and Houston, along with Pushrod and Dayna Delux. The heat was on but for Dallas it wasn't too bad. Met so many awesome new people and saw lots of good old friends. Got to hang with my ladies and my hubby afterwards at Lee Harvey's and that was good times.

I'm in!

As if having my crazy record jewelry on models down a runway at the first Pin Show wasn't an honor enough I have been asked to be on the board of directors! I cannot begin to tell you what a huge honor this is for me. Just being a part of such a talented group of people and being involved in such an outstanding show is just a dream for this small town girl. Yes, I will be sporting mega shoulder pads and power suits at all the meetings!

The Pin Show

So I am just now coming down from cloud nine after doing The Pin Show. For those of you who don't know Pin Show was held July 10 at The Door and was Dallas' premier fashion show. Designers submitted application and were accepted based on design. Each designer submitted 6 looks for the runway. As I have never done anything of this sort I about vomited the night of the event I was so nervous. My son was also in the event as a model (yes, we our the power mother son duo) and he was to adorable for words.
I can't say enough awesome things about the show but here it goes: the staff and everyone involved were so patient, nice and organized. The stage was way cool, the music was so freakin cool I wanted to bust the "Robot" several times, and the place was packed. It took most people 40 minutes to get in the door and there was a line around the block. There were a lot of very important people there with their sunglasses on so you know it was fabulous. To see so many amazing designers in one place just put me in awe. Dallas has freakin talent out the ass and people need to know that!
From the show I got a interest from a stylist working at Krave magazine and a photo shoot with House of Dang for Oligiville (which will launch in November).
For designers I cannot recommend this show enough. It took me out of my comfort zone and I created so many new things. It also is the first time that I can say with real integrity that I am a "designer". If you are not a designer but want to go to a great party with great music, drinks, vibe and fashion I highly recommend the next Pin Show (they are planning on doing them twice a year).
Kudos to you Pin Show, kudos.

Lonestar Roundup

So we just got back from Austin and working The 7th Annual Lonestar Roundup. Lonestar is the South's largest hotrod and kustom car show with over a 1,000 cars, trucks and what nots along with bands, vendors from all over the country and good food. Where else can you buy a custom purse from Trophy Queen, get an updo by Vintage Flair, meet Jesse James, get your pic with a Jackalope and listen to great bands like High School Ceasars. Although Friday started out rainy and cold Saturday was devine.Texas Tarts shared a booth with the talented Poisoned Creations, Tara to the T and Binge & Purge. The highlight of the event was when Mary Huff of Southern Culture on the Skids got an original Texas Tarts cuff. We also debued our koozies and custom pinstriped cuffs by Stublefields which sold out and we look forward to carrying more of those.Look out Austin cause the Tarts will be back next year!
